LONDONDERRY, N.S. - RCMP in Nova Scotia say they have arrested a man who allegedly shot at a car in Central Onslow early Friday.

The shooting prompted an emergency alert in the morning warning residents in the Cumberland and Colchester counties and East Hants area that 37-year-old Gregory Allen Barr was in possession of a firearm and was believed to be dangerous.

Police say he was safely arrested Friday afternoon in Londonderry.

Cpl. Chris Marshall says the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday when someone driving along Highway 2 saw a car driving slowly, so they pulled over to offer assistance.

Marshall says the driver of the slow-moving car shot at the person in the vehicle that had stopped before fleeing.

No injuries were reported.
