Montreal man dies after fight in east-end borough, city's 23rd homicide of the year

Montreal police say they are investigating the city's latest homicide after a man in his 50s died in an alleged fight in an east-end borough.

Police say a body was discovered Wednesday night in Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension.

Officers were alerted at around 8:20 p.m. about a fight involving two people.

Upon arrival they found a man unconscious on the ground, and his death was declared at the scene.

Homicide investigators analyzed the crime scene overnight, and officers have not made arrests in the case.

The killing is the 23rd homicide reported on the Island of Montreal in 2024.
