BREUIL-CERVINIA, Italy - Canada's Eliot Grondin earned bronze on Saturday in World Cup men's snowboard cross action in Italy.

The Sainte-Marie, Que., native finished behind Australia's Adam Lambert, who grabbed silver, and Austria's Alessandro Haemmerle, the reigning Olympic champion, who took gold.

It was the second World Cup competition of the season for the 22-year-old Grondin.

He won the season-opening event on Dec. 3 in France.

Grondin was the Olympic silver medallist at the 2022 Beijing Games.

He also teamed with Meryeta O鈥橠ine for bronze in the inaugural mixed team event.
