Message from the Dean
At LIU Pharmacy, we are committed to preparing the next generation of pharmacy leaders with the education and skills necessary to capitalize on opportunities arising from the ongoing evolution of pharmacy. We are preparing students for the advances in such established areas as chronic disease pharmacotherapy and pharmacy automation and to take advantage of significant opportunities created by the application of data analytics and artificial/augmented intelligence which enhance accuracy, performance and global cost management, while further advancing the clinical progress pharmacists have achieved in delivering patient care.
Change seems to be the one constant in the world of pharmacy. The last 25 years in particular have seen remarkable advancement in technology, automation, and electronic record management driving the formation of a rapidly growing new "Pharmacy Industry." These changes have fundamentally altered our work by shifting the burden of more mundane tasks to machines, allowing pharmacists to focus more on patient care. Indeed, today’s pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists have unprecedented opportunities to apply their expertise across multiple disciplines in novel ways.
In support of our commitment, we have made investments in state-of-the-art technology to enhance our pharmacy curriculum. One example is LIU’s collaboration with Dassault Systèmes, a world leader in AI technologies. Our partnership promises developments in research and education by enhancing LIU's offerings in digital health, personalized medicine, and drug discovery through an advanced learning lab. Our drug discovery platform is a pioneering project in the field of AI-driven pharmaceutical sciences.
We are proud to build on our College's 136-year history of excellence and committed to carrying on the tradition. We are excited for the opportunity to lead our students to the next chapter in the evolution of pharmacy. The future is bright for Rx.
