CALGARY - Police in Calgary have laid more charges against a man accused of sexually assaulting a newcomer to Canada whose family he was volunteering to help.聽
The latest charges include one allegation dating back almost six decades.聽
Police charged an 83-year-old man in November after a complainant came to a police station to report multiple sexual assaults between December 2023 and June 2024.聽
Police said the accused had been assigned to a newcomer family through a local organization, and they allege he took advantage of the complainant's immigration status to commit the assaults.聽
Police say two more complainants have since come forward, one with allegations similar to those announced in November.聽
The other recognized the name as that of a teacher who he alleges repeatedly physically assaulted him when he was a student in 1967.聽
Robert Edward Choquette was charged with three counts of sexual assault in November, and is now facing four more. He has also since been charged with one count of criminal harassment and three counts of wounding/assault causing bodily harm under the 1967 Criminal Code.聽
His next court date is Jan. 29.聽
