ABOUT US

Leonardi Institute for Health Analytics and AI signals LIU Pharmacy's entry into the contemporary healthcare industry utilizing powerful technologies and AI for the delivery of evidence-based healthcare. The Institute was formerly known as the International Drug Information Center (IDIC) which, since its inception in 1973, has been a recognized provider of drug information services to a varied client base.

The Institute’s activities are centered on the use of real-world data to generate real-world evidence to improve patient outcomes and reduce the total cost of care. The Institute collaborates with Agilum Healthcare Intelligence, Inc. and utilizes Agilum's proprietary analytics platform, Comparative Rapid Cycle Analytics (CRCA™) P&T in the delivery of these services. The Institute continues to support the drug-information needs of the College’s faculty, students, and preceptors, as well as other clientele. The Institute also serves as a training site for student pharmacists participating in advanced pharmacy practice experiences.


FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS

The Institute serves as a training site for a fellowship program in health analytics and AI and a fellowship program in drug information and medical communications.

    Joseph P. Nathan, MS, PharmD

Dr. Joseph Nathan is an alumnus of the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, having earned a BS in Pharmacy and an MS in Drug Information and Communications from the College. He received a PharmD degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After practicing as a clinical pharmacist at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, Dr. Nathan joined the College’s International Drug Information Center as a drug information specialist. Dr. Nathan is a professor in the College’s Division of Pharmacy Practice and Co-Director of the Leonardi Institute for Health Analytics and AI. Dr. Nathan served as the Director of the College’s International Drug Information Center for approximately 10 years. His scholarly interests focus on the availability and utilization of information resources by healthcare professionals and consumers as well as the use of health analytics and real-world evidence in the practice of pharmacy. Dr. Nathan published numerous articles on issues affecting the practice of pharmacy, serves as a reviewer for professional publications, and has served on the advisory board of a leading pharmacy journal. Dr. Nathan served as a pharmacy consultant to a long-term-care facility and continues to practice in a community pharmacy. Dr. Nathan was involved in developing the College’s first fellowship program as well as other fellowship programs offered by the College.
       
       
      Sara Grossman, PharmD

Dr. Sara Grossman received her PharmD degree from The Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, graduating summa cum laude in 2007. Dr. Grossman is a Co-Director of the Leonardi Institute for Health Analytics and AI and an adjunct assistant professor of pharmacy practice. Previously, Dr. Grossman served as a drug information specialist at the College’s International Drug Information Center. Her areas of interest include the practice of drug information and the integration of real-world data into clinical decision-making. Dr. Grossman has authored numerous articles on issues pertaining to drug information and pharmacy practice, in general, and has served as a reviewer for a number of professional publications. Dr. Grossman was instrumental in the development and launch of the College’s inaugural and subsequent post-doctoral fellowship programs. Dr. Grossman has practiced in community pharmacy and has served as a consultant pharmacist.

Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
